How Much for the Red Ones? (Print)
OPEN 205 presents “Lines of Site”, a new exhibition that explores the relationships
between place, object and material in Deptford, Lewisham through the works of
artists Nina Parsons, Harry Hibbert, and Billy Myles-Berkouwer.
This interdisciplinary showcase brings together work inspired by the textures, sites, and objects found in the vibrant area of Deptford, Lewisham.
Over the course of nine months residence at OPEN 205 and living and working in Lewisham, Parsons, Hibbert and Myles-Berkouwer have a deep connection with the neighbourhood's streets, architecture, and community – a synergy that has encouraged them to explore shared themes and motifs in their work.
As a result, this diverse yet cohesive exhibition offers an artistic exploration of the urban landscape. Through their respective practices, the artists have drawn upon the area as a site for artistic exploration, incorporating elements such as found objects, materials, practices, and architectural forms into their works.
By bringing these distinct perspectives together under one roof, “Lines of Site” highlights the ways in which this urban environment has informed not only the subject matter, but also the materiality and conceptual frameworks of the
artists' work.
