Marcel Croxson (1986, Cornwall) is a London-based artist and designer who materialises ideas across installation and print. His work explores the beauty of impermanence and aims to highlight the importance of our ecological environment.
His work deploys acts of spatial transformation to engage audiences in "small events glimpsed in passing" (1). Projects are based on carefully drawn observations recorded and iterated through photography, print, sound and installation. This multimedia approach derives from his background in architecture, where his work was process-driven and based in making.
Past projects include 'Pause' at Back Room Gallery, Copeland Park, Peckham, a cinema of iterative works on paper (2). 'Window One, Window Two' at the Five Walls Gallery in Melbourne, AUS, a two-channel sound installation activated by audience participation (3). And 'Temporary Structures' a live installation project in Bermondsey, London, which utilised materials close to hand to transform a residential apartment with as little as possible (4).
Marcel is currently engaged in a 35mm photography project exploring water ecologies of the river Thames in Deptford, London. He is a lecturer in Interior Design at Istituto Marangoni.
