studio

OPEN 205 is a space in which the entire creative process occurs under one roof. We work collectively "in-house," where work is simultaneously created and exhibited by the artists who inhabit it. Having all aspects of the art space in-house aims to reduce the commercialisation of art, putting the control of presentation in the hands of the artists and preventing mediation from the bureaucratic art world influences that are used to commodify creativity.

By operating an art space in this format, we are building better relationships with visitors and growing a community of those with creative interests. We diversify the gallery's purpose by hosting practical workshops, public events, and showcases of a selected artist roster.

Residents, who are the founding artists of Open 205, will have 24/7 access to the studio gallery for studio use. The gallery will have designated public opening times during which residents may work on personal projects and also engage with the public, whether it's making sales or explaining exhibitions, etc.
In addition to our resident artists, OPEN 205 will host monthly guest shows featuring artists, collectives, and creatives, each bringing a fresh perspective and energy to our space. This rotation of resident and guest exhibitions keeps our program exciting, ensuring that every visit offers a unique experience.

Our current studio residents are Nina Parsons and Harry Hibbert.
