Hope Florin (b. 2002) currently lives in Deptford, having returned to London after living in Glasgow for the past two years.
'I have just begun a three year Fine Art degree course at the Slade, but prior to this I was studying Social Policy in Glasgow, which I dropped out of to pursue art. I am still figuring out how to describe my work; I place figures, often versions of myself, in imagined contexts which are spaces that blur the distinction between the external and internal. I work in oil on ply wood. Through my work I am trying to speak about human relationships, most often drawn from my own experience, however I try to refrain from prescribing a singular meaning or narrative to the images I create.
