Emma Ogawa Todd (b. 1998) is a Japanese-English multidisciplinary artist working in London, who examines interconnected ecologies and coexistence, guided by Shinotist philosophy. Her practice is a process of claiming family lineage and ‘returning to our roots’. Through this process, she wrestles with the complexity of mixed identities, displacement of self and the in-between, investigating the material and intellectual properties of Japanese cultural objects, practices and iconographies.
She recently graduated from Central Saint Martins with the Deans Award and is currently participating in Acme and Double Agents two-year Associate Studio Programme. Todd's work has recently been showcased at South London Gallery as part of Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2022.
