Poppy Tingley (b. 2001) a British/ Canadian mixed media artist based in London, is in her final year of studies at Parsons, New York. With a blend of 2D, 3D, and 4D works, her practice embodies a sense of child-like innocence coupled with experimental techniques.
Her enthusiasm for writing enhances her perspective for character design which is deeply influenced by childrens books, film, comedy and her own sensitivity to emotion and colour. Her characters are a testament to her keen observation of the subtle tenderness and humour inherent in human personalities.
Her process involves sourcing and collecting archive materials, her favourite, the Opie Sound Collection is integral to her recent animations. The latest being, “Facilitated Recreation” (2023), the first part of her new series of odes to playgrounds.
